La storia incomincia con l'abbandono della famiglia di heidi della baita del Nonno a causa di un litigio del Nonno col padre di Heidi. Proprio durante l'abbandono un fulmine colpisce un albero uccidendo la sua famiglia. Rimasta orfana appena nata, heidi, dopo essere stata per otto anni allevata dalla zia, viene portata dal nonno. Ora è lui che se ne dovrà occupare...come andrà a finire?
